To provide an opportunity to work through the planning process using the community mental health issues selected by the group

summary of main IDEAS:

  • There are many good reasons for groups to take time to think through their mission, goals and objectives – it helps to give direction to projects, helps to build ownership among group members, and provides the groundwork for program evaluation.
  • Developing a plan helps participants to be clear about what they are trying to achieve, how they will achieve it, and how they will know if they’ve been successful.
  • Developing a thorough plan before taking action will help groups to determine potential obstacles.
