Reducing stigma and raising funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association a key goal for pharmacy chain

Truro, May 13, 2013 – Medicine Shoppe Canada and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) are marking the rollout of a unique in- pharmacy fundraising initiative. The announcement is a new collaboration for the two organizations that last year formalized a novel partnership designed to help Canadians maintain and improve their mental health and support their recovery from mental illness.

Throughout the years, and within and outside of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), we have heard that the term ‘consumer’ and its definition are disliked, outdated and not broad or inclusive enough.

Des activités locales sont prévues dans des bureaux de l’ACSM situés dans des centaines de collectivités partout au Canada

Toronto, le 6 mai 2013 – Les stress et les difficultés font partie de la vie d’aujourd’hui, il est donc important de faire une pause pour réfléchir à notre santé mentale et bien-être mental. C’est ce que l’on encourage les Canadiens à faire, alors que l’Association canadienne pour la santé mentale (ACSM) procède au lancement de sa 62e Semaine annuelle de la santé mentale (SSM), aujourd’hui. Pour commencer la SSM, des représentants des bureaux de l’ACSM d’un océan à l’autre iront saluer les navetteurs du matin et leur transmettront des conseils et des renseignements sur la santé mentale; ils distribueront également de l’information sur la santé mentale dans les centres commerciaux et les cafés, animeront des séances gratuites de yoga et tiendront des marches pour la santé mentale dans diverses collectivités.

Toronto, May 6, 2013 – With all the stress and challenges of life today, it’s important to pause and reflect on our mental health and well-being. That’s what Canadians are being encouraged to do as the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) launches its 62nd annual Mental Health Week (MHW) today. CMHA locations coast to coast started MHW by greeting morning commuters with mental health tips and facts, handing out mental health information at local malls and coffee shops, hosting free yoga classes and holding mental health walks in various communities.
