Why
is it that we are happy discussing our physical aches and pains
but not so keen to talk about our mental health? The truth is, our
mental well-being is just as important as our physical health.
As a teenager you have to cope with lots of changes,
both physical and emotional, and you need the support of friends
and family to help you through. You’ll be faced with growing
independence, mood swings, new anxieties and realities.
Most people experience mental health problems at some
time, and they can affect your ability to handle day-to-day situations
and enjoy life. These problems can be caused by lots of different
things, like stress at school, relationship problems or the death
of someone close.
Sometimes these problems can really get to you, and
you may find you have a hard time dealing with them. We all get
sad, angry or stressed out sometimes. Mental distress is common
and can happen to anyone, so if you have moments when you feel you
really can't cope, you're not alone.
