Managing mental health in the workplace

No one is immune from mental health problems. Mental health in the workplace affects us all, whether we are employers or employees.

Did you know...

  • Disability represents anywhere from 4% to 12% of payroll costs in Canada
  • With early detection and appropriate accommodation at work, the vast majority of people are able to continue working effectively or return to work after an absence caused by mental illness
  • stress, burnout and physical or mental health issues are the main issues limiting productivity in Canada, according to a recent survey of Canadian CEOs

When mental health issues are not addressed and treated appropriately, there can be considerable personal and financial costs to individuals and organizations. Fortunately, with prevention, early treatment, and support, many of these costs can be significantly reduced or eliminated entirely.

Addressing mental health issues in the workplace is a win-win proposition for employers and employees alike.
